Anthropic and AWS: A Strategic Integration
On May 11, 2026, Anthropic announced that its artificial intelligence platform, Claude, is now fully accessible via Amazon Web Services (AWS). This development marks a significant strengthening of the ties between the two companies, aimed at accelerating the adoption of AI in businesses. By making Claude available on AWS, Anthropic allows companies already using this cloud service to benefit from all of Claude's features without leaving their usual environment.
Benefits for AWS Users
Until now, some advanced features of Claude were only available through Anthropic's native API. Now, AWS integrates these features, enabling companies to take advantage of IAM authentication, unified billing, and audits via CloudTrail, all within a single environment. This simplification aims to ease technical management for businesses, eliminating the need to juggle multiple systems. Furthermore, this integration offers immediate access to new features, which is a considerable asset for companies looking to stay at the forefront of technology.
Advanced Tools and Data Management
Anthropic also offers ambitious tools such as Claude Managed Agents, designed to deploy AI agents at scale, as well as the execution of Python code via API. An integrated web search system and Skills that allow Claude to learn specific behaviors are also included. However, Anthropic clarifies that data processing occurs outside the traditional AWS environment, a crucial distinction for companies concerned about data sovereignty and compliance. To address these concerns, Anthropic also maintains Claude on Amazon Bedrock, where AWS remains the primary operator and data stays within Amazon's infrastructure.
Amazon: A Central Player
This integration is not without benefits for Amazon. Indeed, the more companies adopt Claude via AWS, the more they become entrenched in the ecosystem of the American giant, thereby strengthening AWS's dominant position in the cloud sector. The timing of this announcement is also strategic, as the AI war is being fought as much over models as over tools. OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft are intensifying their efforts to dominate the generative AI market, and Anthropic, by closely partnering with AWS, seeks to avoid being left behind. The AI market is in full swing, and every player is striving to position themselves as a leader in this technological race.
