Users of Codex, OpenAI's platform, can now manage their quota resets more freely. This new feature, available to paying subscribers, allows users to retain the reset and use it at an opportune moment, an improvement that addresses numerous user complaints.
Until now, quota resets were imposed on a fixed schedule, often unsuitable for developers' needs. Now, these resets can be kept in the user profile for a maximum of 30 days, providing increased flexibility for intensive development sessions or important demonstrations. This feature is aimed at subscribers of the Go, Plus, Pro, and Business plans.
In parallel, OpenAI is launching a two-week promotional campaign. Subscribers of the Plus and Pro plans can invite up to three people to try Codex. If an invitee uses the tool and sends their very first message, an additional reset is recorded on both the user’s and their invitee's accounts, thus encouraging the adoption of Codex.
Community reactions are mixed. Some users welcome this initiative that gives them more control, while others feel that this update corrects an initially poorly designed constraint. Nevertheless, this new feature could significantly enhance the experience for developers by preventing unnecessary frustrations.
