Conversational Gemini Arrives on CarPlay in the U.S.

Google now offers conversational navigation with Gemini in Google Maps for CarPlay, initially in the United States. A global rollout is announced. Unannounced Customization on CarPlay and Planned Global Timeline

Google does not specify whether Personal Intelligence features will be available on CarPlay. These features, announced the day before for Gemini on Android Auto and vehicles equipped with Google built-in, allow the assistant to access information from Gmail, Calendar, Maps, Photos, YouTube, and Search. At this stage, no information has been provided regarding their potential arrival on CarPlay. Additionally, Google states that Gemini's conversational navigation, available today to U.S. drivers, will gradually be extended to other regions.

What Drivers Can Do Now with Gemini

CarPlay users in the United States can now use Gemini to interact vocally with Google Maps hands-free. The assistant supports complex queries, such as asking for recommendations on places to visit and then starting navigation while avoiding toll roads. Google also highlights the ability to report traffic disruptions and search for information about stops or locations during the trip. The feature is activated by tapping the Gemini icon in Google Maps on the infotainment screen.

One Year After Android Auto, CarPlay Receives Gemini
