Deezer Democratizes Detection of AI-Generated Music

Deezer is innovating by offering a tool that allows users to detect AI-generated music in their playlists across various streaming platforms. This initiative marks an important milestone, as Deezer is the first major streaming service to label AI-generated music.

Despite making this technology available to other platforms, few have shown interest. Qobuz has developed its own solution, while Apple and Spotify have adopted a voluntary labeling system. In light of this lack of enthusiasm, Deezer has chosen to make its tool accessible directly to the public.

A Tool Accessible to Everyone

Deezer's CEO, Alexis Lanternier, explained that since no other company has followed their lead, they decided to allow everyone to check for the presence of synthetic music in their playlists, regardless of the platform used.

To use this tool, users simply need to visit Deezer's AI music detector website, select their streaming service, and grant access. The tool is compatible with 20 platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube Music. Deezer then imports the playlists via Tune My Music, a service it already uses to transfer music libraries between competing platforms like Spotify.

Analysis and Sharing of Results

Once the playlists are imported, Deezer analyzes them to identify the presence of AI-generated content. Users are alerted in case of detection and have the option to share the results. This approach allows users to better control their listening experience and become aware of the growing influence of AI in music creation.
