AI is Advancing Too Quickly for Americans
A recent survey conducted by Pew Research reveals that 63% of Americans believe that artificial intelligence is progressing at too rapid a pace. This perception comes as the use of AI chatbots has seen a significant increase.
The Rise of Chatbots Since 2024
Since 2024, the adoption of AI chatbots has surged. Currently, 49% of Americans report using them at least occasionally, up from just 33% in 2024. Among these tools, ChatGPT stands out with growing popularity, as its usage has doubled since 2023, reaching 44% of respondents.
A Negatively Perceived Societal Impact
Despite this growing adoption, opinions on the impact of AI remain largely negative. Only 16% of survey participants believe that AI will have a beneficial effect on society.
Young People More Concerned
Younger generations, in particular, express heightened concerns. Among Americans under 30, 66% voice worries about the rapid evolution of AI, even though they are among the largest users of these technologies.
