The California startup Dextr AI has raised $6.7 million to deploy its AI agents in hotels of all sizes. It highlights applications ranging from phone reservations to late check-ins, integrations with major PMS systems, and a monthly increase in its ARR reported between 20% and 30%, without detailed figures.
Cited volumes and revenues, processing 1 million interactions to voice reservations
Dextr AI claims that its agents handle over 1 million interactions per month across hundreds of hotels. According to Sajid Shariff, a large establishment generates between $100,000 and $300,000 in monthly reservations through the voice agent. The installed base covers hotels with 21 to 550 rooms, both independent and branded under Hilton, Wyndham, Best Western, and IHG. The agents can also orchestrate late check-ins without a night receptionist, a position that Sajid Shariff estimates costs between $70,000 and $80,000 per year in California. Daisy and Alfred can be combined to verify a reservation and guide access to the room.
Connected use cases: from customer relations to internal operations
Dextr introduced Daisy to convert calls into reservations when accurate answers are not available on booking sites. The offering also includes support for group bookings, team management, and various other functions. The stated goal is to interconnect the agents so that data from a customer interaction can trigger operational actions, such as modifying schedules following a housekeeping refusal. For example, Daisy can confirm a late check-in reservation and relay access instructions.
Deployment supported by engineers and PMS integrations
Dextr sends engineers to establishments to identify use cases and connect the agents to existing systems, then follows up over time to develop high ROI applications. The company integrates with Oracle Hospitality, OPERA Cloud, StayNtouch, Cloudbeds, and Hostaway. Sajid Shariff asserts that the combination of interconnected agents is a differentiator, and that increasing use cases is essential to maximize ROI. Field teams can manage the agents via text or voice through Doss, presented as a companion that avoids the need to learn new software, a sensitive point given the high turnover described.
Clients, channels, and pricing: from independents to brands
The startup collaborates directly with owners as well as branded hotel operators and is beginning a first direct collaboration with a brand whose name has not been disclosed. It also works with companies specializing in management or ownership, reservation centers, vacation rentals, and outdoor hospitality establishments, including campgrounds, RV parks, inns, and golf courses. Its business model is based on a subscription per property and according to the agents used, some of which incur usage-based billing.
Funding, workforce, and announced ARR growth
Dextr AI has raised $6.7 million in seed funding, a first institutional round led by Elevation Capital with participation from Foundation Capital. The funds are intended to recruit engineers in customer-facing roles, expand software integrations, and develop new agents. The team has grown from three people a year ago to 21. Sajid Shariff did not disclose revenue, profitability, or valuation, but indicated an acceleration in activity in the spring and a month-over-month increase in annual recurring revenue of about 20% to 30%, without further details.
Investor perspective on traction and retention
For Krishna Mehra of Elevation Capital, Dextr's commercial momentum motivated the investment. He highlights use cases that generate reservations and upsells while reducing operating costs. He states that Dextr has signed hundreds of properties and achieved significant ARR without prior fundraising. He adds that the company has clients, no churn, and a clear ROI trajectory, while many AI players are still seeking product-market fit.
Project origins: from initial agents to multi-hotel deployments
Back in the Bay Area in 2024, Sajid Shariff heard professionals discussing rising labor costs, staff shortages, and the need to increase revenue. He then developed Alfred, an AI agent for customer relations and arrival and departure processes, claiming an improvement in online reviews within 90 days at two hotels. The pilot was deployed in other hotels, starting from the observation that messaging alone did not cover all needs. In July 2025, he founded Dextr AI in San Francisco with Scott Arnold, whose agents now handle reservations, customer requests, staff coordination, and other tasks.
