Disney is preparing an AI assistant for booking at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is set to test a natural language booking assistant, limited to a specific scope at launch. Based on Gemini and powered by in-house data, it will initially be offered in beta to a random panel of guests in the United States and Canada.
A Launch Limited to Disney World, Excluding Lightning Lane and Restaurants
At launch, the AI will not support Lightning Lane reservations or restaurant bookings and will be restricted to Walt Disney World. The beta phase will be offered to randomly selected guests in Canada and the United States. Disney plans to gather their feedback to improve the tool before a gradual rollout. Meanwhile, internal tests are being conducted with staff members to ensure that the AI-generated summaries accurately extract information from Disney's official sources, aiming to save guests time.
Natural Language Advice and Hotel Comparisons
The assistant will allow users to ask booking questions in natural language, such as searching for a hotel that meets specific preferences. It will provide personalized suggestions and be able to compare multiple hotels based on criteria like location and pricing. During searches, AI-generated summaries will present information such as rates and availability. After formulating its recommendations, the chatbot will direct users to booking links.

Gemini as the Foundation, Using Only Disney Data
The technology used is based on Gemini, Google's AI offering. The assistant will rely solely on official Disney data, without drawing from the entire web. A Disney representative clarifies that Google Cloud provides the AI component, while the sources and data utilized are those of Disney.
The AI Assistant Will Be Tested on the Walt Disney World Website and App
The AI engine is expected to operate on both the booking website and the Walt Disney World app, with a beta version announced as forthcoming. This initiative comes as AI is already being used to plan and book trips through tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, Booking.com, or TripAdvisor.
