"Scale is very important, and if you can organize it in such a way that companies partner from the outset to build that scale, to establish proof points, it then allows them to respond to the next demand," Behl explained, noting that portfolio companies will partner directly, but hopefully, will also work with each other's partners.

In some cases, these startups will be incubated directly by Eclipse, which plans to create new companies from this fund. Behl mentioned that interesting ideas are already in development, with a particular interest in startups capable of spanning multiple sectors.

"We are definitely working on a few really interesting ideas," he said, noting that Eclipse is particularly interested in startups that operate across businesses.
