Ed.ai Raises €5 Million to Accelerate in the U.S.

The French start-up specializing in AI-assisted correction and remediation has secured €5 million in funding led by Bpifrance. After deploying its solution in 500 institutions and reaching 2,500 copies corrected per day in June, the company aims to exceed one million copies per month within two years and is expanding its presence in the United States, where its solution aligns with the curricula of all 50 states.
Two-Year Goals and Announced Means by Ed.ai
Ed.ai aims to surpass one million copies processed per month globally within two years. The company plans to use the raised funds to double the size of its team and increase the number of teachers using its solution. In the short term, it intends to expand its platform to subjects beyond mathematics over the next twelve months and to begin experiments with American universities. Jonathan Banon believes that the competitive advantage will depend on the product, stating that it is a priority at this stage to be established where the product is developing rather than where revenues are highest, but he mentions that he could reverse this priority in two years. He indicates that he spends two to three weeks per quarter in the United States and does not rule out relocating there in the future.
€5 Million Funding Round and Engaged Shareholders
Ed.ai raised €5 million in a funding round led by Bpifrance through its Digital Venture fund. La Poste Ventures, a fund created by the La Poste group and managed by XAnge, as well as 50 Partners, are among the participants in this round. Historical investors, including AFI Ventures, CentraleSupélec Venture, Ring Capital through its Generations fund initiated by Edhec, and Super Capital, have also reinvested. The company had previously raised €1.7 million in April 2025.

Established American Footprint and National Compliance
Ed.ai launched its first offering focused on mathematics in the United States, with deployments in North Carolina, Utah, California, Texas, and Florida. Its solution is now compliant with the mathematics curricula of all 50 U.S. states, and the first American employees were recruited in the spring. Jonathan Banon emphasizes that the education market there is much larger than in France and that he is primarily observing American competition, asserting that Ed.ai's funding level is comparable to that of American players. The fundraising is also intended to support the ambition of conquering the American market.
Scaling Up in France and Usage Indicators
In June, Ed.ai's tool corrected 2,500 copies per day across ten subjects covering the entire middle and high school curriculum. Over 100,000 copies have been corrected in the past six months. By September, the platform was being used in 500 institutions in France. A year earlier, it was processing 100 copies per week in two subjects, from 6th grade to the final year of high school.
The Product: Pre-Correction, Remediation, and Project Genesis
Ed.ai's assistant performs a pre-correction that is said to reduce the time needed for grading by half. The tool identifies individual and collective difficulties and then designs personalized remediation pathways, available in both printed and digital formats. Jonathan Banon traces the project's origins to his experiments with generative AI in 2023, highlighting the contribution of LLMs to pedagogical reasoning and the still underutilized potential of student submissions. He consulted several educational academies, including those in Lyon, Tours, Orléans, Île-de-France, and Martinique, to develop the solution with teachers, emphasizing the goal of assisting without replacing traditional grading. The project aims to address school dropout rates, which affect 75,000 young people annually in France. Ed.ai was founded in September 2024 by Jonathan Banon, Cédric Bignon (formerly of Microsoft), and Rémi Mazières (formerly of Le Choix de l’École). Its initial mission is to provide teachers with an AI assistant for grading and pedagogical remediation.
