Anthropic recently unveiled Claude Fable 5, the first public version of its Mythos model, which promises to transform video game creation. This model was tested by Ethan Mollick, an AI researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, who shared his impressions on his Substack blog.
Mollick emphasized that Fable 5 far surpasses other public models he has used. He noted that the model is capable of solving complex problems and producing impressive results, with the ability to operate for hours on detailed specifications.
One of the most striking demonstrations of Fable 5 is its ability to generate video games from a single prompt in Claude Code. Among the games created, Snake stands out with its 1980s arcade style, where the player embodies a snake eating apples. Another game, Strata, offers an exploration of underground tunnels with the goal of lighting lanterns, reminiscent of the graphics of Myst.
Mollick also used Fable to design Duino, a game inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke's Duino Elegies, where the player navigates a nighttime landscape accompanied by poetic passages.
Beyond games, Fable has been used to create an isochrone map, illustrating travel times between different locations with remarkable accuracy. These capabilities demonstrate how complex software projects, once requiring entire teams, can now be generated by a single prompt, providing a glimpse into the rapid evolution of AI capabilities.
