Fambot Launches a Family "AI Manager," Beta and $3.5M

The startup founded by former employees of Instagram, Uber, Google, and LinkedIn is testing a dedicated "AI assistant" for parents. Available for free in beta on mobile and web, it aims to aggregate emails, calendars, and WhatsApp groups while preparing a paid offering and expanded integrations.
Open Beta, $3.5M Raised, and Testing with 1,000 Families
Fambot is available for free in beta testing on iOS, Android, and the web. The startup has raised $3.5 million in pre-seed funding, a round co-led by NextView Ventures and Baukunst, with Correlation Ventures, Karman Ventures, and Founders Network participating. Before this launch, over 1,000 families tested the service. The company reports that interest extends beyond the busiest households and includes families with a single child, single-parent families, households where parents do not work, and other configurations. According to them, these trials suggest potential utility for anyone with children. David Reich further notes that there are 43 million families in the United States with children under 16 and believes they lack support.
Email, Calendar, and WhatsApp Integration for Daily Tasks
Usage begins with connecting email, calendar, and WhatsApp groups to monitor. Fambot then generates a daily task list and an overview of upcoming events, with the ability to interact via messages to ask questions or get updates. The company highlights a difference from text-centric AI agents like Poke or Instinct: the agent can also be used via the web and a mobile app interface. The startup bets that this software approach will meet real-world usage and claims it allows them to develop more advanced features. On the technical side, it combines several AI models and stipulates that these models do not train on user data.

Aiming for a Hub of Integrations for Family Communications
The team plans to gradually add integrations with more applications used by schools, clubs, and sports organizations. The stated goal is to make Fambot a central hub for tracking communications related to children and family. From the outset, the ambition was to provide the feeling of a full-time, proactive, and organizing personal assistant. The company envisions using AI agents at the core of managing family mental load.
Project Origins and Founders' Experiences
Fambot was created by Greg Karlin, a former Instagram engineer and now CTO, and David Reich, former president of UnitedMasters and former product lead at Uber, where he led Uber Transit’s team of 250 people. They began development about a year and a half ago, joined by Jason Morrow, who has experience at Google and LinkedIn. David Reich, a father of three, says he wanted to build the tool he would use himself after realizing he spent an hour processing up to 40 emails at the end of the day, amidst a fragmented flow between WhatsApp, school apps, and paper documents. He claims this situation deprived him of time with his children and that Fambot can sometimes anticipate needs before the parents themselves. The service is free in beta, and the company plans to set a price around that of a Netflix subscription, subject to change.
