Adobe Integrates AI into Its Creative Suite with Firefly AI Assistant

Adobe continues to innovate by integrating artificial intelligence into its creative tools. At the Adobe MAX 2025 event, the company unveiled the Firefly AI Assistant, a unified AI agent designed to orchestrate complex workflows across all Creative Cloud applications. This initiative is part of what Adobe calls "agentic creativity," an approach where AI proactively supports the creative process.

A Unique Interface to Drive Creativity

The Firefly AI Assistant stands out with its unique conversational interface, integrated into the Firefly application. Through this interface, users can describe their goals in natural language, and the assistant takes care of coordinating and executing multi-step workflows. It mobilizes tools from Creative Cloud such as Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, Illustrator, Express, and of course, Firefly itself.

Adobe emphasized that the Firefly AI Assistant relies on a growing library of over 100 tools and skills, which accelerates creative exploration and production. This development is an evolution of Project Moonlight, initially presented at Adobe MAX in late October 2025, and refined since within a private beta.

David Wadhwani, president of Adobe's Creativity & Productivity Business division, stated: "Adobe is paving the way for a new era of agentic creativity, where the creator directs how the work takes shape, and where their perspective, voice, and aesthetic choices become the most powerful creative instruments."

The Foundations of the Firefly AI Assistant

The Firefly AI Assistant is built on several fundamental pillars that define its operation and utility for creators:

  • Unified Conversational Interface: The assistant centralizes creation within a single interface in the Firefly application, allowing context, decisions, and progress to be maintained from one session to the next. These elements are then transferred into the individual Creative Cloud applications.

  • The Creator Directs, the AI Executes: While the assistant suggests actions and orchestrates workflows, the user retains control at every step. Output files remain in Adobe's native format, making them fully editable.

  • Creative Skills: A library of pre-built skills allows for launching multi-step workflows from a single prompt. For example, a "social media assets" skill can crop an image, adapt it to the formats of each platform, and optimize file sizes. These Creative Skills are also customizable.

  • Personalization: The assistant gradually learns each creator's preferences, whether related to tools, workflows, or aesthetic choices, to produce increasingly consistent results.

  • Asset Knowledge: The assistant understands the type of content being created, whether images, videos, designs, or brand assets, and adapts its actions accordingly.

  • Frame.io Integration: The assistant can organize and share work in Frame.io for review, interpret feedback from stakeholders, and automatically apply requested changes.

Adobe also plans to make the features of the Firefly AI Assistant accessible via third-party models, such as Claude from Anthropic, allowing creators to leverage Adobe tools from other work environments.

Enhancements to Firefly for Video and Image Editing

Alongside the launch of the AI Assistant, Adobe introduced several enhancements to its Firefly web platform. The integrated video editor benefits from significant audio updates, including the integration of the Enhance Speech tool, already available in Premiere, which is now directly accessible in the editor. The latter also includes adjustments for noise management, reverb, and balancing between voice, music, and ambiance.

The noise cleaning and sound enhancement tool, "Enhance audio," also makes its debut in the Firefly video editor. Additionally, Adobe Stock is now accessible from the editor, providing access to over 800 million licensed resources, including videos, images, audio, and sound effects, without leaving the workflow.

Regarding image editing, Firefly has added two new precision editing features:

  • Precision Flow: This tool explores variations from the same prompt, allowing adjustments ranging from subtle to radical.

  • AI Markup: This feature allows for direct guidance on retouching by drawing, selecting, or pointing to specific areas of the image.

These tools complement the editing features already available in Firefly, such as Generative Fill, Remove, Expand, and Upscale. The video editor also integrates new color adjustment settings, such as exposure, contrast, saturation, and temperature, with looks that can be applied with a single click.

Finally, two new third-party video models join the platform: Kling 3.0 and Kling 3.0 Omni. They add to the more than 30 partner models already available, including Nano Banana 2, Veo 3.1, and Runway Gen-4.5.
