Firmus Achieves Record Valuation
Firmus, a major player in AI data centers in Asia, recently announced a significant fundraising of $505 million. This financing, led by Coatue, propels the company's valuation to $5.5 billion. In just six months, Firmus has managed to raise a total of $1.35 billion, illustrating the growing interest from investors in its projects.
Strategic Support from Nvidia
Based in Singapore, Firmus had previously raised 330 million Australian dollars, approximately $215 million, reaching a valuation of 1.85 billion Australian dollars, or $1.2 billion. Among the investors was Nvidia, a key strategic partner for Firmus.
The Southgate Project: An Innovative Data Center Network
Firmus is developing a network of data centers called Project Southgate, which stands out for its energy efficiency. This project spans Australia and Tasmania, utilizing reference designs provided by Nvidia. Firmus's data centers will integrate Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform, a next-generation AI computing system, the successor to the Blackwell architecture. The platform is expected to go live in the second half of 2026.
A Transition from Cryptocurrency to AI
Originally, Firmus specialized in cooling technologies for Bitcoin mining. However, the company has successfully pivoted towards artificial intelligence, capturing the attention of investors and strengthening its position in the AI data center sector.
