Framework will launch preorders for a new configuration of its mini-PC, announced at the end of August and equipped with a Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495. The machine aims to execute large language models locally, boasting 131 TOPS aggregated and up to 192 GB of unified memory.
131 TOPS, Zen 5, and 192 GB LPDDR5X for Local AI
The Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 accumulates 131 TOPS by combining CPU, iGPU, and NPU. Its neural accelerator alone provides 55 TOPS for local AI processing. On the general computing side, the Zen 5 CPU features 16 cores and 32 threads, supported by a Radeon 8065S iGPU with 40 RDNA 3.5 compute units. The chip can utilize up to 192 GB of unified LPDDR5X memory with a bandwidth of 273 GB/s. Up to 160 GB can be allocated to the iGPU, and up to 96 GB to the CPU. This processor was launched in the spring by AMD.
Preorders Opening on September 30 and Assembly Options
Framework announced on X that preorders for the new version of its Desktop will begin on September 30, in the afternoon for France. This version includes an open-ended PCIe x4 slot, allowing for the installation of x8 or x16 cards, as well as a pre-installed Noctua fan. It is also possible to opt for a pre-assembled version, which can be delivered with Fedora preloaded. The whole package is offered in a mini-PC format.
Positioning Against DGX Spark and Timeline
This configuration is presented as an alternative to compete with DGX Spark offerings in the local management of large language models, a segment where Minisforum is also preparing an MS-S1 MAX-P495. The machine was announced at the end of August and combines a Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 with a maximum of 192 GB of unified memory.
