The consultant, faced with an unpaid debt of £7,000, chose to collaborate with Garfield AI, a company specializing in the use of AI for legal services. For a cost of around £400, Garfield AI handled the drafting of a legal letter and initiated the legal proceedings.

The artificial intelligence tool managed the entire preparation of the case, including drafting arguments and compiling necessary documents. The final verdict was in favor of the consultant, with the court ordering the payment of the owed amount.

AI: A Valuable Support for Small Businesses

Philip Young, co-founder of Garfield AI, views this event as a major turning point for access to justice. He emphasizes that many small businesses often refrain from pursuing debts due to high legal costs that can exceed the amount of the debts themselves.

The consultant initially considered abandoning the recovery of her debt, discouraged by a process she deemed too lengthy and costly. The intervention of AI allowed her to pursue the proceedings without being overwhelmed by the complexity of the judicial system.

Garfield AI offers to handle compensation claims ranging from £30 to £10,000, an offer made possible by a license from the Solicitors Regulation Authority obtained in April of the previous year.
