Google Relaunches Continued Conversations with Gemini for Home

Google has announced the return of the Continued Conversations feature on its Google Home speakers, now powered by the Gemini for Home assistant. This update, revealed on Tuesday, allows users to engage in more natural dialogue with their speaker without having to constantly repeat "Hey, Google." Once this option is activated, the speaker remains attentive for a few seconds after each response to process additional requests.

This feature is not entirely new for Google Home users, who have previously enjoyed this option with the old Google Assistant. However, the current version with Gemini promises notable improvements, including more contextual responses and the ability to handle multiple languages simultaneously. Additionally, Gemini for Home can keep track of your previous conversations, enriching the interaction by providing more relevant answers.

Furthermore, Google claims that Gemini for Home is designed to better ignore background noise, making the user experience smoother and less prone to interruptions.

Google Home users have had early access to Gemini for Home in recent months, provided they signed up for the early access program. While Google intends to completely replace the old Google Assistant with Gemini for Home, no specific date has been announced for this large-scale rollout.

In the meantime, Amazon continues its own enhancements in the field of voice assistants. Earlier this year, the company launched Alexa.com, a service that allows Alexa Plus users to start a conversation on one device and continue it on another.
