Google DeepMind Partners with A24 to Revolutionize Cinema with AI
Google, already well-known for its advancements in artificial intelligence, is not limited to large language models. Among its innovations are video generators that have made waves, particularly with the presentation of Gemini Omni last May. This AI model is capable of producing strikingly realistic videos. Today, Google takes a new step by partnering with A24, a major player in the film industry, to integrate its technologies into Hollywood. A24, famous for films like Spring Breakers, Ex Machina, Moonlight, and Backrooms, is joining forces with DeepMind, Google's AI lab, to develop tools aimed at artists. The goal is to ensure that these tools seamlessly integrate into the creative processes of film professionals.
Demis Hassabis, the CEO of DeepMind, emphasizes the importance of this collaboration by stating, "We firmly believe that the best way to create tools that enable artists to express themselves is to work directly with them. By collaborating from the outset with filmmakers and key industry players like A24, we can design new AI features that help artists create authentic and impactful stories while realizing their artistic vision."
A Strategic Investment by Google in A24
In parallel with this collaboration, Google has decided to make a significant investment in A24. According to reports from TechCrunch, this investment amounts to $75 million. This substantial sum reflects Google's commitment to integrating AI into the film industry and supporting A24 in its future projects.
AI, an Essential Tool for the Film Industry
Google is not the only tech giant betting on artificial intelligence in the realm of cinema. Netflix, for example, has already integrated this technology into some of its productions. This year, the streaming service acquired InterPositive, a company founded by Ben Affleck, which is also developing AI tools for filmmaking.
Additionally, the MGM Amazon studio is said to have begun experimenting with internally developed AI tools. These initiatives demonstrate that AI is becoming a central element in filmmaking, offering new possibilities for directors and producers to enrich their narratives and optimize their production processes.
