Google DeepMind Invests $75 Million in A24 for AI in Film
Google DeepMind and the film studio A24 are partnering for a long-term research collaboration. Google is also investing approximately $75 million in A24, according to the Wall Street Journal.
In a blog post, Eli Collins, VP of Product at Google DeepMind, outlined the key points of the agreement. It encompasses several projects. A24 filmmakers will test and help shape AI tools as part of their daily work. In return, Google DeepMind will receive concrete feedback from active professionals.
What this partnership will actually produce remains unclear. No concrete products or outcomes are available yet. The announcement is vague: both parties claim they want to determine together how AI can be useful in film production. A24 is known for films such as "Everything Everywhere All at Once" and the recent "Backrooms."
