Google Democratizes Access to Custom Image Creation with Gemini
Google has recently made a decision that could transform the way users interact with its artificial intelligence services. The company has made one of its most innovative features, custom image generation with Gemini, available for free to a wider audience. This feature relies on Nano Banana, Google's image generation model, and goes far beyond simply creating aesthetically pleasing illustrations.
The distinctive element of Gemini lies in its ability to integrate personal information to produce images that truly reflect the user's personality.
How Does Image Generation with Gemini Work?
Creating an image that captures the essence of a person typically requires a detailed description. It is often necessary to mention aspects such as passions, favorite foods, pets, travels, and the individual's lifestyle. However, with the new feature of Gemini, this tedious step can be bypassed.
When the user activates the Personal Intelligence option, the assistant can draw from information from various Google services linked to their account, such as Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Google Search. This data allows Gemini to better understand the user's interests and automatically fill in missing details. For example, a simple request like "create an image of me with all my favorite things" is enough for Gemini to compose a personalized illustration without requiring an exhaustive description.
Moreover, this feature allows access to photos stored in Google Photos, eliminating the need to upload reference images for each request to create a portrait or custom image.
Expanded Accessibility of Image Generation with Gemini
Until recently, image generation with Gemini's memory was exclusive to paying subscribers. Now, Google has decided to make this feature available for free to all users located in the United States.
It is important to note that this personalization remains entirely optional, as it requires the activation of the Personal Intelligence option. This activation is left to the user's discretion, who can also choose which services Gemini will have access to.
Once the option is activated, it is used by default, but the user can disable it at any time via the Tools menu to revert to a more traditional mode of operation.
As a reminder, the Personal Intelligence option was initially launched in the United States before being gradually expanded to other countries such as India and Japan.
