Google has recently introduced a native application for its AI chatbot, Gemini, specifically designed for MacOS. This new application aims to provide a faster and simplified interaction with Google's AI, making some of its most powerful features available in just a few clicks.
The integration of artificial intelligence into daily life is continually progressing, and companies are doubling their efforts to make it more accessible. While AI is already ubiquitous on smartphones, its use on desktop computers has so far been primarily limited to web applications. With this native application, Google takes a new step by making Gemini accessible via a simple keyboard shortcut.
For MacBook users, it is now enough to press the Option and Space keys to access Gemini, without having to navigate between different tabs or windows. Among Gemini's standout features are image generation with Nano Banana, as well as video and music creation, all accessible in an intuitive manner.
Additionally, the MacOS application allows users to instantly share the context of a window to obtain information about the displayed content. This feature also extends to local files present on the computer and is not restricted to web pages alone.
Available for free, the application is compatible with MacOS 15 and later versions. Google emphasizes that this initiative is just the beginning, laying the groundwork for a "personal, proactive, and powerful desktop assistant." Users can download the application directly from the gemini.google/mac website.
