Google has launched Foresight, a free note-taking application for macOS that processes audio locally. Optimized for Macs with Apple chips, it promises that files, recordings, and notes remain on the computer while offering transcription, summaries, and an integrated assistant.
Apple Silicon Macs and Local Processing, with a Promise of Privacy
Google AI Edge Foresight is currently available only for Macs equipped with Apple Silicon and operates entirely on the device. Google emphasizes that files, meeting audio, and notes never leave the computer. The application is free and available on macOS.
Offline Transcription, Summaries, and an Assistant to Query Content
The application allows users to transcribe meetings and audio files without an internet connection, then generate summaries. It provides a space for manual note-taking. An integrated assistant answers questions about the content heard and can rely on local files added by the user. The processing is based on Google's EmbeddingGemma 2 model.
Abbreviated Input Transformed into Notes and Markers Against Competitors
Google states that users can enter points in shorthand during the meeting, which the application then transforms into "neat notes" from the transcript. Like Granola and Wispr Flow, Foresight combines automatic summaries and note-taking in one space. The application, named Google AI Edge Foresight, marks Google's entry into the AI-assisted note-taking segment on macOS.
