Google Renames NotebookLM: Gemini Notebook Integrates with Gemini
Google is changing the name of its AI-powered note-taking app. The company announced on Thursday that NotebookLM is becoming Gemini Notebook, but it will remain a standalone application while integrating more deeply with Gemini and Google Search.
Google first introduced Gemini Notebook—then called Project Tailwind—in May 2023 before launching the app a few months later. Over the past few years, Google has added new features to the app to help organize and make sense of your notes, such as the ability to summarize them into AI podcasts, narrated slideshows, and TikTok-style clips. The company has recently started allowing users to connect their notebooks to the Gemini app as well. Google also plans to integrate notebooks into AI Mode, its chatbot-like experience in search.
In addition to the name change, Google is rolling out an update announced last month that allows Gemini Notebook to connect to a secure cloud computer for writing and executing code. This feature is available for Google AI Ultra and Workspace for business customers but will be accessible to Pro users on the web "in the coming weeks."
