Google reshuffles the tiers of Gemini. The high-end Pro and Deep Think options are now behind the AI Pro and Ultra subscriptions, while free access is limited to Flash Lite, and Flash moves under the paid AI Plus.

Pro and Deep Think reserved for AI Pro and Ultra, at $19.99 and $99.99

Access to the Gemini Pro model will be reserved for subscribers with a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription. The advanced reasoning option Deep Think will also be limited to these two plans. The Google AI Pro subscription is priced at $19.99 per month, while the Ultra offering costs $99.99 per month.

Free tier limited to Flash Lite starting October 9

Starting October 9, free access users of Gemini will only be able to use the Flash Lite model. Until now, they had the option to choose between Flash Lite, Flash, and Pro. Access to the Flash model will now require a Google AI Plus subscription priced at $4.99 per month. This subscription will soon be restricted and will no longer include access to Gemini Pro. Google has stated that AI Plus subscribers will receive an email to inform them of this change. Free access to Gemini Flash and Gemini Pro will therefore be removed.

Effort levels maintained, but increased quota consumption

According to Google, users will have the option to choose between low, medium, or high effort levels for each model. Furthermore, the company notes that using higher effort levels may accelerate the depletion of the Gemini usage quota.
