Google recently introduced Gemini 3.5 Live Translate in its Google Translate app, marking a significant advancement in the field of voice translation. This artificial intelligence model, now available worldwide on Android and iOS, promises to transform the way we communicate abroad.
To use this new feature, simply access the “Instant Translation” tab in the app. With a headset or headphones, users can receive smooth translations in over 70 languages, while maintaining the speaker's tone. On Android devices, even without headphones, a listening mode allows users to hear the translation directly from the phone.
Fast and Continuous Translation
The Gemini 3.5 Live Translate model stands out for its ability to provide continuous audio translations, reducing the delay between the spoken statement and its translation to just a few seconds. Unlike traditional systems that operate on turn-taking, this AI ensures a fluidity that avoids awkward pauses.
In addition to Google Translate, this technology will also be integrated into Google Meet for Google Workspace users. Third-party developers will also have the opportunity to leverage this innovation through the Google API, thus expanding its potential use.
