The company announces the generation of interactive interfaces in responses and improvements for queries requiring web searches. It also claims a faster response startup, with a 44% gain for GPT-6 Instant compared to GPT-5.6 Instant on questions involving online searches.
OpenAI announces better searches and faster responses
OpenAI presents GPT-6 as better suited for everyday questions, particularly those requiring internet searches. According to the company, the new models more accurately identify queries that necessitate web consultation and find the necessary information more reliably. OpenAI also states that responses are faster: for questions involving online searches, GPT-6 Instant starts responding on average 44% earlier than GPT-5.6 Instant.
Mini-applications in responses thanks to Intelligent UI
Until now, ChatGPT was able to insert static images or charts into its responses. It is now capable of producing interactive interfaces that include buttons and sliders, to illustrate a concept, assist in a calculation, or guide the user through a task. OpenAI calls this feature Intelligent UI and presents it as the ability to include real web mini-applications, usable directly within the conversation. Examples mentioned include an interface for assembling a bicycle, with a slider for the exploded view and buttons to identify components, or a module allowing users to visualize changes in gross domestic product based on various economic factors.
Two variants of GPT-6 based on the offering, including free
The deployment of GPT-6 in the question-and-answer function concerns all offerings, both paid and free. Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers will have access to the GPT-6 Sol model, while the free version and ChatGPT Go will use GPT-6 Luna. This evolution comes with a new feature that alters how ChatGPT responds. The rollout on the basic interface is underway.
Deployment of the chatbot after Codex and ChatGPT Work
GPT-6 had already been launched on Codex and ChatGPT Work. The extension to the public chatbot follows these initial integrations.
