The Rise of Hightouch in Digital Marketing

Traditionally, online advertising campaigns relied on collaboration between marketers and designers to produce customized visuals and videos. However, this dynamic has been disrupted by technological innovation.

At the end of 2024, Hightouch, a startup founded seven years ago, introduced an innovative service based on artificial intelligence. This service allows marketing professionals to create personalized content for renowned brands such as Domino’s, Chime, PetSmart, and Spotify, without requiring the involvement of internal design teams or external agencies.

A Meteoric Success Thanks to AI

Since the launch of its AI product, Hightouch has experienced impressive growth. In just 20 months, the startup added $70 million to its annual recurring revenue, reaching a total of $100 million. This success reflects the effectiveness and appeal of their solution for companies looking to optimize their advertising campaigns.

Kashish Gupta, co-CEO of Hightouch, emphasizes that the introduction of generative artificial intelligence has enabled individuals without advanced design skills to create professional-quality content. Alongside Gupta, Tejas Manohar, former technical lead at Segment, co-leads the company. Segment, a customer data platform, was acquired by Twilio for $3.2 billion in 2020.

Beyond Traditional AI Models

Hightouch does not simply use standard AI models. The company found that brands attempting to create campaigns with generic models faced issues with consistency in their brand identity. Generic AI systems, while effective for certain tasks, often lack the specificity needed to respect the nuances of brands, such as colors, fonts, and tone.

Gupta explains that these models can even hallucinate nonexistent products, which poses problems for advertising and marketing communications. To address these limitations, Hightouch directly integrates clients' creative tools, such as Figma, and accesses their photo libraries and content management systems (CMS).

Learning Brand Identity

By leveraging these resources, Hightouch's platform assimilates the specific brand identity of each company. Hightouch's AI agents then use this information to help marketers design tailored advertising campaigns without waiting for designers' input.

The goal is to produce visuals and videos that appear to have been created by professionals, thus avoiding the generic look often associated with AI. For example, Domino’s uses existing images of pizzas, integrated into ads where the background and other elements can be generated by AI.

Sustained Growth and Impressive Valuation

Hightouch, which now employs around 380 people, reached a valuation of $1.2 billion in February 2025. This valuation was achieved following an $80 million Series C funding round led by Sapphire Ventures. This fundraising reflects investors' confidence in Hightouch's potential to transform the digital marketing landscape.
