IBM and Google Cloud have decided to strengthen their partnership by launching a new offering dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) for enterprises. This initiative aims to combine IBM's business expertise, hybrid cloud capabilities, and AI agents based on Google's Gemini technology. The goal is to help businesses transition from pilot projects to large-scale deployments, a market worth billions of dollars.

Many companies face challenges in industrializing their AI initiatives. To address this challenge, IBM and Google Cloud have announced a new phase in their collaboration with the launch of a dedicated Google Cloud Practice. This entity is designed to support organizations in deploying AI agents, modernizing their critical systems, and leveraging their data at scale.

This initiative relies on Google Cloud's Gemini technologies and IBM Consulting's industry expertise. It aims to transform experiments into production solutions capable of generating a tangible impact on operations, decision-making, and business competitiveness.

A Joint Offering to Accelerate AI in Enterprises

The partnership between IBM and Google Cloud materializes through the creation of a dedicated entity, bringing together thousands of IBM consultants certified in Google Cloud along with specialized engineering teams. Their mission is to assist businesses in designing, deploying, and managing AI solutions in often complex hybrid environments.

IBM brings its expertise in consulting, digital transformation, and modernization of critical systems, while Google Cloud provides the power of its Gemini Enterprise Agent platform, data management capabilities, and cybersecurity tools.

Both companies aim to offer a comprehensive framework that allows organizations to move more quickly from idea to operational deployment. IBM consultants will now be able to directly develop and manage enterprise AI agents on Google Cloud infrastructure, using pre-configured components, reusable models, and proven methodologies.

For businesses, this approach enables the acceleration of AI projects without multiplying specific developments, while adhering to governance, security, and compliance requirements.

Sector-Specific AI Agents to Automate Business Operations

One of the key aspects of this collaboration is the creation of a portfolio of specialized AI agents by industry. These agents will be developed from IBM Consulting Advantage and optimized to work with Google Cloud's Gemini models.

Several sectors are targeted from the launch, including banking, insurance, public administration, telecommunications, energy, retail, security, and life sciences. The goal is to address concrete use cases rather than offering generic solutions.

Businesses will thus be able to automate certain business processes, accelerate decision-making, and improve operational efficiency through systems that leverage their business data in a often demanding regulatory context.

In heavily regulated sectors, the value lies in the ability to integrate AI into existing processes while ensuring traceability, compliance, and data security.

IBM also plans to develop common interfaces to more easily connect enterprise data to Gemini, in order to avoid information fragmentation. This will facilitate the large-scale deployment of AI, regardless of the client's technological environment.

Modernizing Hybrid Cloud to Deploy AI at Scale

The partnership also targets the modernization of infrastructures. According to IBM, companies are currently undergoing one of the most complex technology modernization cycles in decades. Many organizations must coexist with legacy applications, on-premises systems, and multiple cloud providers, not to mention new AI platforms.

The two partners aim to differentiate themselves by offering a solution that covers hybrid cloud modernization, cybersecurity, data governance, and operational resilience.

Highlighted technological elements include BigQuery for data exploitation and Confluent for governance and real-time processing. IBM's watsonx and watsonx Orchestrate solutions also enhance decision-making capabilities and automation of AI agents. Red Hat OpenShift is now available directly from the Google Cloud console to simplify application management in hybrid environments.

The experience gained from large-scale transformation projects is another key selling point. IBM and Google Cloud cite their collaboration with Airbus, where teams contributed to the operational separation of two aerospace entities in less than 18 months and modernized over a hundred critical systems related to engineering, manufacturing, and customer service.
