Instinct Claims 40% of Linked Cards in Three Weeks

Instinct highlights a trust indicator: nearly 40% of registered users would connect a credit card within three weeks, according to its founder Noah Shinn. The startup announces a $1 billion funding round at a $10 billion valuation and is preparing new interfaces, as Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic accelerate their efforts on personal agents.
Instinct claims $1 billion raised for $10 billion valuation
Instinct announced in September that it has raised $1 billion, bringing its valuation to $10 billion. Noah Shinn specifies that the effectiveness of the service depends on collecting information about users, such as private emails, calendars, conversations, and preferences, in order to remember details without repeated prompts. He describes the amount of data required as very significant. Shinn also anticipates that in the coming years, the majority of people with internet access will have an AI operator like Instinct.
Shinn reports 40% of cards linked within three weeks
Noah Shinn notes that about 40% of people registered on Instinct add a credit card within three weeks of joining the platform, a rate he shared during the Forge conference organized by Fireworks AI in San Francisco. According to him, this percentage reflects how quickly users trust AI agents with managing their finances and sensitive data. Instinct also assesses trust by observing how quickly users authorize significant purchases, including transactions over $500 or trips costing several thousand dollars. Shinn, 23, left university to found the app.

Purchases already significant at Muse, with an average basket >$200
Meta reports that more than a quarter of Muse users have made purchases through the agent, with an average order exceeding $200. Agents like Instinct and Muse aim to facilitate purchases for their users. Journalist Katie Notopoulos questioned the nature of these purchases and the proportion that costly and complex transactions, such as flights or appliances, might represent.
Muse, Dots, and Claude Duet fuel the race for agents
Several companies have recently launched their own agents: Meta with Muse, OpenAI with Dots, and Anthropic with Claude Duet, presented as a proactive assistant capable of managing tasks for the user. This trend corresponds to the emergence of a new generation of AI agents capable of booking flights, grocery shopping, managing calendars, or processing subscription cancellations, which requires broad access to emails, schedules, payment data, and personal preferences. Noah Shinn also mentioned developments around real-time voice exchanges and adaptive interfaces for Instinct. The app spread rapidly across networks during the summer.
