Isomorphic Labs of Alphabet: $2.1 Billion for Medical AI
Isomorphic Labs, a pioneering company in drug discovery through artificial intelligence, has recently completed a Series B funding round, raising an impressive $2.1 billion. This funding round was led by Thrive Capital, with notable participation from giants such as Alphabet, GV, MGX, Temasek, CapitalG, and the UK Sovereign AI Fund.
This substantial capital is intended for the expansion of Isomorphic Labs' internal AI platform, known as IsoDDE. This advanced technology is designed to accelerate the development of new drugs by integrating multiple proprietary AI models. These models are capable of working across various therapeutic areas and drug classes, thereby bringing drug candidates closer to clinical trials. Additionally, the funding will be used to recruit talent on a global scale, further enhancing the company's capabilities.
Demis Hassabis, co-founder of DeepMind and a key figure behind Isomorphic Labs, emphasizes that the company's ultimate goal is ambitious: to solve all diseases. According to him, the company's approach has already proven effective, and the current challenge lies in scaling this technology.
Founded in London in 2021, Isomorphic Labs has already established strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical industry leaders such as Novartis, Lilly, and Johnson & Johnson. These collaborations aim to integrate AI advancements into the development of innovative medical treatments, promising to transform the landscape of drug discovery.
