According to him, in thirty years, the workweek could be reduced to just three and a half days thanks to technological advancements. Dimon expressed these ideas during an interview on CBS, where he also predicted that life expectancy could reach 100 years. He mentioned the possibility that serious diseases like cancer could be cured and that transportation, such as planes and cars, would become safer. These advancements would free up time for leisure activities, like hiking.

Dimon emphasized the importance for the next generation to develop skills such as communication and teamwork. He advised young people to learn to think critically, talk to everyone, and cultivate a deep curiosity about the world. He also stressed the importance of emotional intelligence, having a work ethic, and a sense of purpose, as these qualities will be crucial in a world where careers will be more varied and complex.

The Challenges of Transitioning to AI

Despite these optimistic perspectives, Dimon warns against the risks of a too-rapid transition to AI, which could lead to disruptions in the labor market. He calls for collaboration among governments, businesses, and other stakeholders to anticipate and manage these changes. "Crying over spilled milk won't solve the problem," he cautioned, highlighting the need for proactive solutions.

Dimon had already made a similar prediction about AI in the fall of 2023, stating to Bloomberg that "your children will live to be 100 years old and won't have cancer thanks to technology, and they will probably work three and a half days a week."

Predictions Shared by Other Tech Leaders

Other influential figures in the tech sector share similar visions. Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, stated in late 2023 that AI could mean humans "won't have to work so hard" and might "only have to work three days a week" as AI boosts productivity. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, even envisioned a future where work becomes optional, comparing it to playing video games. Musk also predicted that saving for retirement would become "irrelevant" in twenty years due to the abundance created by AI and other innovations.
