Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, is considering raising $100 billion for an ambitious fund aimed at transforming manufacturing companies through artificial intelligence. According to information from the Wall Street Journal, this fund would be used to acquire companies in key industrial sectors and modernize them with advanced AI technologies.
This project is closely linked to Project Prometheus, an AI startup co-founded by Bezos, who also serves as co-CEO alongside Vik Bajaj, a former Google executive. Bezos's involvement with Project Prometheus was initially reported in November. Launched with initial funding of $6.2 billion, Prometheus focuses on developing sophisticated AI models to enhance manufacturing and engineering in fields such as aerospace and automotive.
The manufacturing fund that Bezos seeks to create will support this mission by acquiring companies that will adopt the AI models developed by Prometheus. To attract investors, Bezos has recently made trips to Singapore and the Middle East, highlighting the scale and ambition of this project.
The goal is to target sectors such as aerospace, semiconductor manufacturing, and defense, where the integration of AI could bring significant innovations and improve operational efficiency.
