KPMG recently withdrew a report titled “Redefining excellence in the age of agentic AI” after several organizations contested the accuracy of the information regarding their use of artificial intelligence. This withdrawal follows reports of inaccuracies from entities such as UBS, the National Health Service of the UK, the Swiss Federal Railways, and Transport for London.
The research group GPTZero played a key role in identifying these errors, which it attributes to AI-generated hallucinations. These mistakes were discovered in a report published in October 2025, and it appears that KPMG used AI to assist in its drafting.
A spokesperson for KPMG confirmed that the report had been removed from the company's websites and that an internal investigation was underway. He emphasized the importance for KPMG teams to adhere to the company's guidelines regarding the responsible use of AI, particularly by ensuring human oversight to validate content and independently verify sources.
This is not the first time a major company has found itself in such a situation. Last month, EY also withdrew a report on loyalty reward programs after discovering false footnotes and similar AI hallucinations.
