OpenAI Codex Expands Its Capabilities to Windows 11
OpenAI has recently expanded the features of its Codex application to include the Windows 11 operating system. This update allows the artificial intelligence to autonomously control applications, files, and other resources on a PC, even in the absence of the user. Thanks to this advancement, Codex can now test applications, identify and fix bugs, or review work without direct human intervention. Users can enable this feature in the Codex settings, using specific commands such as @computer or @Paint to target particular programs.
Remote Control via ChatGPT
In addition to its capabilities on Windows, Codex is now accessible remotely through the ChatGPT app on iPhone and Android devices. This allows users to start or monitor tasks on a Windows machine, even when they are not physically present. This feature was initially launched on macOS in April, followed by mobile access in May, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of Codex.
Towards a "Super App" for Daily Life
The integration of Codex into Windows 11 is part of a broader strategy by OpenAI to create a "super app" designed to facilitate work and daily life. While Codex primarily targets developers, there are plans for ChatGPT to be integrated into this application. However, the brand recognition of ChatGPT may prevent its complete absorption under the Codex name.
