Meta AI Powered by Muse Spark
The Meta AI app has seen its downloads skyrocket following the launch of its latest artificial intelligence model, Muse Spark, last Wednesday. This innovative model is the first developed under the supervision of Alexandr Wang, who was recruited last year from Scale AI to reorganize Meta's AI efforts and lead the Superintelligence Labs.
According to data provided by Appfigures, the app climbed from 57th to 5th place on the U.S. App Store in just 24 hours, illustrating a significant increase in consumer interest.
An Ambitious AI Model
Meta presents Muse Spark as a major advancement over its previous models, Llama 4. Available on the web and mobile devices, Muse Spark is designed to compete with giants like OpenAI and Anthropic. Meta has invested heavily, with a budget of $14.3 billion dedicated to Scale AI and the recruitment of specialized talent.
Muse Spark stands out for its ability to accept multimodal inputs, such as voice, text, and images. It is optimized for various tasks, including health education, solving complex problems in science and mathematics, as well as visual programming, facilitating the creation of websites and mini-games. Additionally, Meta AI is capable of launching multiple sub-agents to address user inquiries.
Expansion and Update
Meta plans to expand Muse Spark to other platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and its AI glasses in the coming weeks. The Meta AI app has also been updated with a new design, allowing users to choose between different modes based on their needs.
Despite this progress, Meta AI remains behind market leaders such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude, and Google's Gemini.
Global Growth
Appfigures data reveals that Meta AI has been downloaded 60.5 million times worldwide on the App Store and Google Play, with 25 million of those installations occurring this year. Over the past five months, downloads have increased by 138% compared to the first five months of its availability.
India has become the primary market for Meta AI, followed by the United States, Brazil, Pakistan, and Mexico.
Alexandr Wang highlighted this new high ranking in a post on X earlier Thursday, noting that the app is "still growing."
