Mistral Unveils Vibe, Its New Multitasking AI Agent
Mistral, the French artificial intelligence laboratory, recently made waves by launching Vibe, an innovative AI agent designed to perform concrete tasks and connect to various online services. This launch marks the end of its previous chatbot, Le Chat, and positions Mistral as a serious competitor against giants like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. At the AI NOW Summit, Mistral presented Vibe as a revolutionary tool capable of transforming how users interact with digital technologies.
Vibe is not just a simple rebranding of Le Chat. It represents a significant evolution towards agent functionalities, enabling users to accomplish complex tasks through connections with online products and services. For developers, Mistral offers a Vibe for code tab, comparable to OpenAI's Claude Code or Codex. Regarding administrative tasks, the Vibe for work tab promises to save considerable time, reminiscent of Claude Cowork's features.
Features Tailored for Professionals
In Work mode, Vibe acts as an AI agent for complex, multi-step tasks. According to Mistral, "it perfectly masters your knowledge, applications, and tools. It establishes a plan and obtains your validation before starting, then leverages your connections to complete the task." Vibe can connect to services such as Google Workspace, Outlook, Slack, or GitHub, or through other custom connectors.
Mistral promises that a person can complete a morning of administrative tasks, such as catching up, gathering data, drafting updates, and preparing them for sending, with a simple prompt. Among the tasks that can be assigned to Vibe's work mode are searching for information within a company, conducting data analyses, generating deliverables from documents, programming multi-step actions, and creating reusable "skills" to automate recurring tasks.
The demonstrations released by Mistral are impressive. In one video, the French AI produces an analysis for a stock portfolio. In another video, Vibe verifies information in the user's emails and then uses a predefined skill to schedule a recurring action.
Strengthened Industrial Strategy
Alongside this launch, Mistral announced strategic partnerships with major companies such as BMW, Airbus, and EDF. These collaborations aim to integrate Mistral's AI into various industrial sectors, ranging from automotive to aerospace and energy. BMW plans to incorporate Mistral's AI into its global operations, while Airbus intends to use generative AI for its commercial and defense aircraft activities. EDF, for its part, aims to leverage artificial intelligence to enhance the efficiency and performance of its engineering and construction projects.
With these initiatives, Mistral confirms its ambition to become a key player in AI in Europe, offering innovative solutions tailored to the needs of businesses.
