Google Gemini has been recognized as the most reliable artificial intelligence platform in a survey conducted by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). With a score of 76 out of 100, Gemini outperforms its competitors, including Microsoft Copilot, which scored 74, as well as Claude and ChatGPT, both at 73. At the bottom of the ranking are Grok and Perplexity, which share a score of 71.
Despite these results, AI as a whole has not managed to surpass other sectors in terms of customer satisfaction. It received an overall score of 73, slightly lower than that of social media (74) and airlines, as well as mortgage lenders. Energy utility services have a score comparable to that of AI. TikTok and YouTube, on the other hand, recorded higher scores of 77 and 78, respectively.
Gemini, one of the most prolific AI platforms, is accessible via various devices such as smart speakers, televisions, phones, and computers. In contrast, the majority of ChatGPT users access this tool through the ChatGPT website or mobile app, while Grok is primarily used on the social media platform X.
The ACSI survey, which questioned 2,711 American adults, indicates that 43% of respondents are concerned about the reduction of human interactions due to AI. The loss of jobs for future generations (37%) and the risk to their own employment (31%) are also major concerns. Baby Boomers are particularly skeptical, with 35% expressing significant worry about AI, while only 6% view it extremely favorably.
Although tools like ChatGPT claim to have up to a billion weekly users, a disconnect persists between AI adoption and public perception. Concerns related to privacy, misinformation, and job loss continue to fuel this skepticism. Forrest Morgeson, an associate professor of marketing at Michigan State University, emphasizes that consumers remain wary of how AI platforms manage their data.
The survey also shows that 21% of participants have an extremely favorable opinion of AI, while an identical percentage expresses significant concerns. Another survey by YouGov corroborates these findings, indicating that only 29% of respondents believe the positive effects of AI outweigh the negatives, while 36% think its net effects are negative.
Finally, more than half of the respondents (56%) have no recent experience with AI. Among the 44% who do, half use AI daily, a trend more pronounced among those with incomes exceeding $100,000 per year. A survey by NBC last month even ranked AI among the least appreciated elements in America, although it remains more popular than the Democratic Party.
