The American company Dell, historically known for its personal computers, has undergone a major strategic transformation by shifting towards the artificial intelligence sector. This pivot was motivated by the decline in global PC sales in 2022, a period when generative AI, popularized by ChatGPT, opened new horizons. By 2025, this transition allowed Dell to achieve an impressive revenue of $113.5 billion for the fiscal year ending January 30, 2026, marking a 19% increase from the previous year.
During the financial results presentation in February, Jeff Clarke, Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer at Dell Technologies, emphasized the transformative impact of AI on the company. In the previous fiscal year, Dell recorded AI server orders worth $64 billion, with shipments totaling $25 billion. The last quarter, which closed on January 30, saw revenues from this segment grow by 342% compared to the previous year. For the current year, Dell expects to generate $50 billion in revenue from its AI servers, representing a 103% increase from the previous year.
Dell offers comprehensive solutions for businesses with AI needs, including servers developed in collaboration with Nvidia, as well as storage and connectivity solutions. David Kennedy, Chief Financial Officer of Dell, refers to these offerings as "AI Factory." In an interview with Fortune, he revealed that Dell already has 4,000 business customers for these solutions, with 750 new companies added in the last fiscal quarter. Demand is driven by new cloud players, sovereign AI deployments, as well as existing Dell customers.
However, Dell faces a major challenge: the shortage of components necessary to meet the growing demand. Despite this, Dell benefits from a supply chain advantage due to its established relationships with suppliers, allowing it to better navigate this complex situation.
