China Bets on AI Agents to Boost the Economy
China is decisively turning to OpenClaw's AI agents to stimulate its economy. According to the South China Morning Post, no fewer than seven local governments have quickly established funding programs to support this technology. This swift action demonstrates that Beijing views AI agents as a crucial lever for economic growth.
Generous Grants for Sole Proprietorships
The tech district of Hefei, located in Anhui province, offers grants of up to $1.4 million. These funds are intended to cover housing, office, and computing costs, and to encourage "sole proprietorships" where a single entrepreneur uses AI agents as virtual employees. Shenzhen has also announced similar grants of up to $1.4 million.
Extensive Support Across Multiple Cities
Other Chinese cities are following this trend. Wuxi offers around $700,000 along with computing resources, while Changshu proposes about $830,000. Changzhou, for its part, offers $700,000 with an additional $280,000 for computing power. Nanjing stands out by providing free office space and computing resources.

Li Zhi, head of the Intelligent Institute at Analysys International, emphasizes that AI, by taking on tasks for users, provides an experience that goes beyond mere technological rhetoric. This approach has sparked national enthusiasm, appealing to both tech enthusiasts and ordinary users.
