Bluesky Introduces Attie, an AI to Personalize Your News Feed

Bluesky, known for its innovation in the social media space, has recently launched a new application called Attie. This app, unveiled at the Atmosphere conference by former CEO Jay Graber and CTO Paul Frazee, is an AI assistant that allows users to design their own news feed algorithm.

Attie is powered by Claude, a technology developed by Anthropic, and is based on the AT Protocol (atproto), the underlying protocol of Bluesky. With Attie, users can generate personalized news feeds using simple natural language. For instance, it is possible to request specific posts on topics such as folklore, mythology, and traditional music, with a particular focus on Celtic traditions.

Towards No-Code Personalization

Initially, these personalized news feeds will be available only through a standalone Attie app. However, Bluesky plans to extend this functionality to its own platform as well as to other applications using the atproto protocol.

Bluesky's ambition doesn't stop there. Attie aims to enable users to code their own applications on atproto without requiring programming skills. Jay Graber emphasized in a blog post that the AT Protocol was designed to be accessible to everyone, and that agentic coding tools make this accessibility possible. The open protocol now allows for software customization without any coding experience.

Availability and Access

Currently, Attie is in closed beta, but users can sign up for the waiting list via the attie.ai website. This initiative marks an important step towards the democratization of digital personalization, paving the way for broader and more inclusive use of information technologies.
