Legora Triples Its Valuation

The Swedish startup Legora, specializing in artificial intelligence for the legal sector, recently raised $550 million in a Series D funding round. This fundraising has propelled its valuation to $5.55 billion, a significant jump from the $1.8 billion reached last October during a $150 million Series C funding. Since its inception in 2023, Legora has raised a total of $816 million.

Founded in 2023 and based in Stockholm, Legora plans to use this new capital to accelerate its expansion in the United States. It opened an office in New York a year ago and is preparing to open new offices in Houston and Chicago. The company has over 800 clients across 50 markets.

An Impressive Funding Round

The funding round was led by Accel, with participation from existing partners such as Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, Iconiq Capital, Redpoint Ventures, and Y Combinator. New investors, including Bain Capital, Menlo Ventures, and Salesforce Ventures, also joined the venture.

The Boom in Legal Technology

In 2025, funding for legal tech startups reached a record high, with $4.08 billion raised, representing a 77.4% increase compared to 2024. This trend is fueled by growing investor interest in automating the legal profession through AI.

Other Major Players in the Sector

Several other startups in the sector have also secured significant funding. Filevine, a provider of legal practice management software, announced in September that it had closed two undisclosed funding rounds totaling $400 million. Insight Partners led the first round and joined Accel and Halo Experience Co. to co-lead the second.

Harvey, based in San Francisco and a provider of AI tools for legal professionals, closed four distinct funding rounds in 2025, including two rounds of $300 million each. To date, the three-year-old company has raised over $1 billion.

Blue J, based in Toronto, is developing a GenAI tax research platform that counts legal professionals among its primary users. It raised $122 million in a Series D funding round in August, led by Oak HC/FT and Sapphire Ventures.

Eudia, based in Palo Alto, California, is developing an intelligence platform for legal teams at Fortune 500 companies. It secured up to $105 million in a Series A funding round led by General Catalyst.

The Rise of AI in the Legal Field

According to Max Junestrand, CEO and co-founder of Legora, the adoption of AI in the United States has exceeded expectations, with large firms and in-house teams increasingly integrating these technologies into their processes. This new funding will allow Legora to accelerate its growth, invest in talent and infrastructure, and strengthen its presence in key markets.

The company plans to open additional offices in the United States this year.
