Laserfiche recently announced a major advancement in content management with the launch of its AI agents. These new tools are designed to perform tasks by following natural language instructions while adhering to the company's security and compliance standards. This innovation promises to transform the way organizations manage the information lifecycle by delegating repetitive tasks to intelligent agents.
Karl Chan, CEO of Laserfiche, emphasized the impact of this technology on manual processes. According to him, the introduction of AI agents allows businesses to modernize their operations while maintaining a high level of compliance. The agents utilize generative LLM reasoning models, enabling them to reduce the time spent on manual tasks by automating workflows.
Capabilities of Laserfiche AI Agents
Laserfiche agents are accessible through a chat interface called Smart Chat. They operate within the limits of permissions and restrictions defined for each user, ensuring secure use tailored to the varying technical levels of teams. By analyzing document data, these agents can identify specific information and execute appropriate actions across various departments such as legal, accounts payable, and human resources.
In the legal sector, for example, the agents can detect inconsistencies in documents before they are reviewed by humans. In accounts payable, they can locate overdue invoices and forward them to the relevant teams. In human resources, they analyze employee records to classify documents according to the required security level.
Agents in the Industry
Justin Pava, product evangelist at Laserfiche, discussed the evolution of document storage thanks to these AI agents. He stated that the physical location of documents will become less critical due to automatic metadata extraction and AI-assisted search capabilities. Users will thus be able to focus on action rather than data organization.
Laserfiche AI agents will be available to Laserfiche Cloud users starting May 7, 2026. They will enable users to perform "point actions" via Smart Chat, and future updates will further enhance their capabilities, including integrating these agents into business processes to monitor systems in the background.
