A Response to the AI Era
Senator Elizabeth Warren, representing Massachusetts, and Representative Mary Gay Scanlon from Pennsylvania are behind this proposal. They plan to introduce an updated version of the Health and Location Data Protection Act in the coming weeks. This bill, initially introduced in June 2022, aimed to prohibit data brokers from collecting and selling health and location information.
Expanding the Scope
The new version of the bill seeks to adapt to technological advancements by also prohibiting other companies from selling this sensitive data to brokers. This legislative initiative reflects a growing commitment to protecting user privacy in the digital age, where AI technologies play an increasingly central role.
