The GPT-5.5 Instant model will be available starting Tuesday, replacing GPT-5.3 Instant as the default model in ChatGPT and in the API under the name "chat-latest." However, for paid users, GPT-5.3 Instant will remain accessible for an additional three months before being permanently retired. This gradual transition allows users to adapt to the new features while continuing to use the old model if necessary.
