Yelp Revolutionizes Booking with Its Integrated AI Assistant

Yelp, the renowned local recommendation platform, recently unveiled a new assistant powered by artificial intelligence, designed to transform the way users interact with the services offered. Available on iOS and Android systems, this assistant allows users to ask questions and schedule services in a single, seamless conversation.

The integration of AI into Yelp marks a significant advancement in the use of agentic artificial intelligence, a technology that enables AI models to perform tasks on command. This trend is already evident among other tech giants like Google, with its Gemini project, and OpenAI, whose ChatGPT can personalize orders or organize events.

According to Craig Saldanha, product director at Yelp, "the new Yelp assistant is our most significant AI product evolution to date." He emphasizes that this innovation allows consumers to move from discovery to action effortlessly, thanks to enhanced integrations that facilitate table reservations, delivery orders, or appointment bookings.

A Versatile Assistant

Accessible via a new "Assistant" tab at the center of the Yelp app, this tool utilizes the vast resources of the platform, such as ratings, user experiences, images, and business details, to execute complex tasks. Users can book a table at any restaurant using Yelp Guest Manager, order takeout through DoorDash and Grubhub, or request a quote for a service.

The assistant also enables users to contact professionals across hundreds of categories, including automotive, beauty, pets, and event services. Reservations can be made through integrations with platforms like Vagaro, Calendly, and Zocdoc.

Initially presented in 2024, this Yelp AI assistant is now enriched with new features, thereby expanding the possibilities available to users of the platform.
