Jensen Huang and AI Token Spending
Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, expressed his concerns regarding AI token spending by developers during the All-In podcast at Nvidia's GTC conference. He presented a "thought experiment" where he imagines an AI developer or researcher earning $500,000 a year. According to him, if this professional invests only $5,000 in AI tokens by the end of the year, it would be "extremely alarming." Huang believes that the token budget should represent at least half of the annual salary, or $250,000, to avoid raising concerns. He would be "deeply worried" if this threshold is not met.
Huang compares this situation to that of a chip designer who would choose to work with paper and pencil instead of using computer-aided design (CAD) tools. This analogy recalls his famous statement from 2018: "The more you buy, the more you save."
AI Industry Revenue Forecasts
Regarding the revenue potential of the AI industry, Jensen Huang commented on the forecasts from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. Huang considers Amodei's estimates, which predict hundreds of billions of dollars in AI-related revenue by 2027/28 and a trillion dollars by 2030, to be "very conservative." He anticipates that every software company will become a "value-added reseller" of tokens from companies like Anthropic or OpenAI, significantly expanding the market.
