Mark Cuban and Claude: Three Prompts to Dominate AI in Business

Mark Cuban, the billionaire and minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks, recently shared with Business Insider three prompts he recommends using with Anthropic's chatbot Claude. These suggestions aim to help young job seekers develop their skills in artificial intelligence (AI) and position themselves advantageously in the job market.

Cuban, known for his role on "Shark Tank" and as the co-founder of Cost Plus Drugs, sees the current confusion surrounding AI as an opportunity to seize. He encourages workers to become experts in creating AI agents for businesses, emphasizing that those who master these tools can gain a competitive edge. "Become an expert in creating agents for businesses," he wrote in an email.

Cuban's Prompts for Claude

The three prompts proposed by Cuban are as follows:

• "Create study guides that ask me questions."
• "Correct me and adapt to my level of knowledge."

In tests conducted with Claude, the chatbot responded by identifying business problems to target and suggesting tools to develop, focusing on automation and cost savings. Claude also proposed a basic tech stack, including tools like LangGraph, CrewAI, and AutoGen, to manage complex and large-scale tasks. More advanced models are suggested for complex reasoning, while cheaper and faster models are recommended for high-volume tasks.

Claude also highlighted unglamorous tasks that businesses already struggle to manage, such as answering common customer questions, scheduling appointments, and following up on invoices. For these tasks, automation via AI can offer effective solutions.

Claude also proposes a structured learning path: it recommends building multiple agents, studying the documentation of major AI providers, and focusing on a small number of industries. Among the sectors mentioned, Claude specifically cited restaurants, real estate, and e-commerce as potential areas for AI enhancement.

Opportunities and Challenges of AI

Cuban remains optimistic about the opportunities presented by AI, particularly for young professionals in small businesses. He emphasized that companies are still trying to understand how to effectively use AI, creating an opening for those who can integrate these technologies. In a TBPN interview in August, he stated that businesses do not yet understand how to implement these technologies to gain a competitive advantage.

Cuban mentioned that "integrators, especially young ones," will emerge, highlighting the importance for them to learn everything they can about AI and, above all, how to implement it in businesses.

However, challenges abound. The costs associated with AI are high, as evidenced by the CEO of Swan AI, who mentioned six-figure monthly bills. Additionally, the reliability of AI systems is still in question, with frequent hallucination issues reported by Nicolas Darveau-Garneau, a former Google executive. Furthermore, Visa reported to Business Insider a consumption of 1.9 trillion tokens per month in March, illustrating the scale of resources needed to support AI operations.

The impact of AI on the workforce is already visible. Software engineers have reported that tasks that once took days are now completed in minutes thanks to agents like Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex. Cuban acknowledges the speed of these changes, stating that AI "crushes everything" compared to past technological innovations.

Despite these upheavals, Cuban remains confident in the future of young workers, encouraging an entrepreneurial spirit and continuous adaptation. "Start there," he advised regarding his prompts for Claude. "You will eventually understand."
