Anthropic recently updated its Claude add-ins for Excel and PowerPoint, introducing features that allow for context sharing between the two applications. This means that Claude can now read cell values, write formulas, and modify slides during the same session, without users having to repeat information.
In addition to this context-sharing feature, Anthropic has introduced Skills. These reusable workflows enable teams to share one-click actions for specific tasks, such as financial model reviews or presentation analysis. A starter set is pre-installed to cover the most common use cases.
The Claude add-ins are now accessible via multiple cloud platforms, including Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry. This multi-cloud availability offers businesses the flexibility to choose the provider that best meets their needs. All these features are available to paying users on Mac and Windows systems.
Many of the capabilities introduced by these add-ins are already present in the Claude application itself, particularly in Cowork mode, which is also integrated into Microsoft's Copilot.
