Google Hits Record Query Numbers Thanks to AI in Q1 2026

Search queries on Google reached an unprecedented level in the first quarter of 2026, as announced by Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, during the company's financial results release. This performance is attributed to the integration of artificial intelligence into Google's services, which has boosted usage and generated a revenue growth of 19%.

Pichai also highlighted that this quarter was the best ever recorded for consumer AI subscriptions, particularly thanks to the Gemini app. Alphabet now has over 350 million paid subscriptions, with YouTube and Google One playing a key role in this expansion.

Alphabet's consolidated revenues reached $109.9 billion, marking a 22% increase compared to the previous year, when they stood at $90.2 billion. Google services saw their revenues increase by 16%, reaching $89.6 billion, with a notable 19% rise in subscriptions, platforms, and devices.

This success comes after a start to the year rich in innovations for Google, which introduced several AI features. Among these are Personal Intelligence for Gemini, task automation on Samsung S26 and Pixel 10 phones, as well as an AI mode for Gmail. Google also launched the Pixel 10A, although this update was deemed minimal.

Additionally, Google announced significant changes to Google Play in response to litigation with Epic Games and appealed a court ruling accusing it of illegal monopoly in online search.

The financial results exceeded expectations, with notable growth in Google Cloud, whose revenues increased by 63% to reach $20 billion. Alphabet plans to discuss these results during a call scheduled for 4:30 PM ET.
