Lovable, a spectacular rise in the coding world

In Lisbon, at the opening of Web Summit 2025, Anton Osika, co-founder and CEO of Lovable, presented the impressive results of his Stockholm-based startup. Lovable, specializing in vibe coding, has recently been valued at $6.6 billion. In just one month, its annual recurring revenue (ARR) surged from $300 million to $400 million, a figure that was $200 million at the end of the previous year.

With over 15 million daily active users, Lovable sees the creation of 200,000 new projects each day. This rapid growth could allow the company to surpass $1 billion in ARR by the end of the year, according to Ryan Meadows, Lovable's Chief Revenue Officer. ARR is a key metric that indicates the predictable revenue generated from subscriptions or recurring contracts.

A booming market for AI-assisted coding

Lovable is part of a broader trend in the rise of AI-powered coding tools. Among these tools are Claude Code and Cursor, the latter recently reaching a valuation of nearly $30 billion. Cursor announced it had achieved $1 billion in annualized revenue by the end of 2025. Lovable, launched in late 2024, quickly reached $100 million in ARR in just eight months, doubling that figure by the end of 2025.

The vibe coding concept allows novices, even with little programming skills, to create code through AI. Founded by Anton Osika and Fabian Hedin, Lovable aims to make coding accessible to everyone, including non-engineers, to develop software and applications. In December, the company was valued at $6.6 billion during a funding round led by CapitalG and Menlo Ventures' Anthology fund.

A partnership strategy rather than competition

Lovable's growth has been fueled by the launch of Claude Code. Rather than competing, the two tools complement each other. Professional developers and engineering teams prefer Claude, while non-technical staff turn to Lovable. "It's a rising tide," said Meadows, emphasizing that Lovable is powered by Claude and highlighted in the Anthropic marketplace.

Anthropic, far from being a competitor, is a strategic partner for Lovable. Meadows indicated that the two companies are engaged in close collaboration to boost their respective businesses. "We will continue to invest in this partnership," he asserted.

Rapid expansion and intensive hiring

Despite its impressive growth, Lovable reached $400 million in ARR with a relatively small team of 146 employees. However, the company plans significant staff expansion, primarily in product and engineering roles, aiming to reach around 350 employees by the end of the year.

Although its engineering team remains based in Stockholm, Lovable will open its first office in the United States in Boston, intended to accommodate go-to-market roles. "We can't hire fast enough," said Meadows, highlighting the urgency and scale of the growth the startup is experiencing.
