OpenAI has launched a challenging contest for developers, offering a reward of $10,000 and ChatGPT Pro subscriptions for the top three creations. This competition, centered around the use of Codex, an advanced artificial intelligence model, invites participants to showcase their ability to integrate this tool into innovative projects.
A Challenge with Codex as the Judge
The contest is structured around the use of Codex as a coding agent. Participants must build a development space where Codex plays a central role. To enter, developers need to submit their code to a public GitHub repository, ensuring that the commits are attributed to Codex. The link to this repository must be included in the README file of the development space.
Codex itself evaluates each submission, judging how it has been utilized and the overall quality of the created space. This unique approach positions Codex not only as a tool but also as an arbiter of the competition.
Issues with Activating Vouchers
Despite the excitement surrounding this challenge, some participants have encountered difficulties in activating the vouchers necessary for using Codex. The Codex key, in particular, seems to be problematic, as there is no clear procedure for its activation. In contrast, for Modal, another tool involved in the challenge, the issue was resolved after a second attempt to confirm the voucher.
Contest administrators have been approached to clarify these issues, but uncertainties remain regarding the use of vouchers for Codex. However, this has not discouraged developers, who continue to engage in this ambitious challenge.
